The first day opens with the foundational disposition of Saint Faustina's spirituality: trust.

Trust as the foundation

The image of Divine Mercy that Saint Faustina commissioned bears the inscription: Jesus, I trust in You. Trust is the first response Christ asks of the soul. Without it, mercy cannot enter; the soul that does not trust holds Christ at a distance.

Prayer

Saint Faustina, you who learned the language of trust at the school of the Merciful Christ, intercede for me. Where I am tempted to despair, give me trust. Where I doubt His love, restore my confidence in His Sacred Heart. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.
