Day 8: Death and the miraculous rose
Day 8 attends to Rita's death at Cascia in 1457 and the miraculous rose her cousin discovered.
The rose in winter
In her last illness, in January 1457, Rita asked her cousin to bring her a rose from her childhood garden at Roccaporena. The cousin found a single rose blooming in winter. The rose has become the universal Catholic symbol of Saint Rita and is blessed at her shrine each May.
Prayer
Saint Rita, you who received the impossible rose in winter, obtain for me the impossible grace I now ask. Amen.
Conclude with one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be.
