Day 1: The Divine Maternity

Day 1 attends to Mary as Mother of God.

Theotokos

The first Hail Mary today honors Mary's title Theotokos, the God-bearer, defined by the Council of Ephesus (431). She is the woman in whose womb the eternal Word took flesh.

Prayer

Pray three Hail Marys slowly. With the first, honor Mary as Mother of God and ask for the gift of Catholic faith.

Mary, Mother of God, deepen my faith in your Son. Amen.
